Buffalo Film in process

We are working with the Wesleyan Center for the Study of Guns and Society on an ongoing project to create a series of documentaries on the legal and community response to the horrific 2022 shooting at a Tops Friendly Markets supermarket in Buffalo, New York. Motivated by an animus against Black people, the Tops shooter murdered ten people, all of whom were African American, and injured another three people. RAMP has been conducting research on segregration and racially discriminatory public policy in Buffalo, the history of Buffalo’s Black community, and the city’s history of racial and gun violence. Working closely with the film production team, we are creating a database of video, audio, and visual materials that they can draw on as the project progresses. We are also writing a series of white papers that provide concise historical background on key topics related to the film’s subject matter.

“Throughout the entire process, they have been incredibly responsive, organized, and always ahead of the game, even with a tight schedule.”

Jennifer Tucker, Director, Center for the Study of Guns and Society, Wesleyan University
