Mercy Health Allen Hospital

An Adventure in Cooperation permanent exhibit, Oberlin, Ohio

The exhibit is in a public corridor of Mercy Health Allen hospital.

A newly built hallway provided an ideal location to tell the remarkable history of Oberlin’s hospital. Julie undertook extensive archival and census research; developed an exhibit theme that expanded the storyline beyond the narrative of individual medical personnel; and worked with the graphic designer and fabricator to develop an appropriate way to display the history for the hospital space. With consideration for the medical setting, panel text was kept brief and presented on low-profile panels with easily cleanable surfaces. Serving as a liaison between the physician researcher, the hospital administration, and the local foundation supporting the project, Julie helped make the hospital’s vision a reality.

“I am so thrilled to have somebody take all of the research I did over the years and condense it in a way that’s both beautiful and informative.”
